Short biography
Born in Saltash, Ann married John Glanville, a waterman, with whom she had fourteen children. When John became ill, Ann took up his trade to provide for the family.
Ann organised a team of four female rowers that participated in local regattas, and gained notoriety for their remarkable uniform — white caps and dresses — and for Ann’s imposing stature. The team took part in several national competitions. Ann remained in competitive rowing well into her sixties.
