Short biography

Born in London in 1660, she was the daughter of the Reverand Henry Killigrew, of the distinguished Cornish family. She was equally skilled in poetry and in painting, and much admired for her taste and purity as well as her learning.

Full biography

Dryden immortalized her in his renowned ode 'To the Pious Memory of the Accomplished Young Lady Mrs. Anne Killigrew', and she was a maid of honour to the Duchess of York. She died of small-pox when she was 25. She is mentioned in volume one of Boase and Courtney's Bibliotheca Cornubiensis.
