Full biography

Born in Australia, Rogers' mother was Cornish and she lived in Cornwall from the age of two, though the family returned to Queensland for 6 months each year. She was educated at the Women's University Settlement in London and served as a nurse in Rouen, France during World War One.

In 1929, she married the Colonal Sir Courtney Vyvyan, the 10th baronet of Trelowarren. On his death in 1941, she inherited Trelowarren estate and house. She was close friends with Daphne du Maurier, who would go on to use the house and gardens as settings for her novels Frenchman's Creek and Rebecca. Vyvyan herself authored many books, most of them set in Cornwall.
