Born in St Keyne, Cornwall, Sparrow was a historian of espionage.
Full biography
Despite her lack of academic credentials, Sparrow was funded by the Leverhulme Trust and the British Academy for research in Paris. She also researched Cornish history.
In 1953 she married Captain Ben Sparrow, a Cornishman, who was master of the Western Hunt. Herself a lifelong horsewoman, she ride with the Western and later with the East Cornwall Hunt. She was a District Commissioner for the Western Pony Club, ran the St Ives Conservatives, and helped to regenerate the Morrab Library in the 1970s.
