Penny was educated in Oxford and later trained for a ballet and stage career. She came to Cornwall in 1928, living at Ludgvan.
Full biography
She was married to Ernest Francis Peirce, a former West End theatre producer, who retired to Cornwall to devote himself to painting and etching, but also found his dramatic talents to be in demand. Her interests came to include Cornish folklore, on which she authored a book, illustrated by the artist Hilda Quick.
