The sister of Mariella Fischer-Williams and Judith Hubback, Hart was an English academic and senior civil servant.

Full biography

She read History at Somerville College, Oxford, worked for eleven years as a civil servant in the Home Office, and married the legal philosopher H.L.A. Hart. She joined her husband in Oxford in 1947 and in 1952 became the first Gwilym Gibbon Research Fellow, a fellowship designed specifically for civil servants, at Nuffield College, Oxford. From 1952 until her retirement, she was a Fellow in Modern History at St. Anne's College.

She, with her sisters Mariella Fisher-Williams and Judith Hubback, inherited Lamledra House, near Gorran Haven, Cornwall on the death of their parents.
