Short biography
A farmer and author, Margaret Leigh was born in Oxford to Alice Maud Bayliss and Henry Devenish Leigh, an Oxford don. She was the cousin of Dorothy L. Sayers. She farmed at Achnabo, Scottish Highlands and then Blisland on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall.
Full biography
Her book Harvest of the Moor recounts her experience farming in Cornwall and her 1939 book A Kingdom for a Horse recounts her journey on horseback from Cornwall to the Scottish borders. In 1948 she converted to Catholicism and in 1950 entered a Carmelite Convent.
